A Slow Fashion, Woman-Founded Brand
Luxe Provence is a woman-run, independent brand created by Founder/Creative Director, Tarik Koivisto (picture above). Tarik thoughtfully designs her slow fashion collections inspired by Provence's natural beauty, Mediterranean lifestyle and rich artisanal history in respect for the environment and its people, to create well-made, timeless classic clothing that last for years to come.
Sustainable, Ethical Production
We handselect only the finest, quality OEKO-TEX® certified EU linen, along with: natural cotton, silks, and luxury deadstock from only the finest producers. To us, slow fashion means quality, over quantity, with sustainable design always top of mind.
Our Luxe Provence limited edition collections sell-out quickly each season online, often by pre-order. We use a pre-order system to help us plan for demands and sizing to avoid over-producing. All of our collections are made in the finest Provence ateliers, all within 30 minutes of our studio, proudly working locally with highly skilled couturières and seamstresses. Our limited edition collections are available exclusively online at: www.luxe-provence.shop.
Plant-Based, Natural Dyes
We are passionate about working sustainability and routinely collaborate with two natural dye, textile artisans from Provence on unique pieces. In our Luxe Provence Vintage collection, we feature our locally sourced antique 19th and early 20th century linen, cotton and chanvre pieces. Each season we work in collaboration with Aixoise, Atelier Simone, who gives these special antique pieces new life with her mastery of indigo dying and patina. We also work with sustainable, textile designer Aurore Pelisson, for custom plant-based dying and textile design of one-of-a-kind limited editions. Aurore uses only plant-based dyes, such as garance, pomegranate, and walnut to create incredible textile designs and natural coloring for our silk and linen fabrics.
About The Founder
Founder, Tarik Koivisto designs her slow fashion collections from her charming, Provencal hilltop village, drawing inspiration from the region's luminous landscapes, artisan culture and rich history. She loves to combine vintage French silhouettes with modern, chic simplicity to create timeless, classic pieces designed to be worn for years to come.
A late-blooming fashion designer, Tarik launched Luxe Provence in her 40's after working for decades in product development, graphic design and branding. In 2018, against all conventional thinking, she decided to pursue her true passion... fashion.
"My grandmother inspired my love for fashion at an early age. She was an excellent seamstress and would create the most incredible clothing for us as children. I remember that excitement of picking out the designs and fabric, and then seeing each piece come to life. I still feel that same joy and excitement today, each time one of my design sketches takes life."
Tarik met her French partner in San Francisco in 1997, and began visiting family in the South of France, eventually bringing her two growing bicultural boys each year. Once she discovered Provence, she was smitten. San Francisco stole her heart, but Provence is where she wanted to make a life for her family and to raise her boys. After a few years in the region, she took another leap and founded, Luxe Provence.
Tarik launched Luxe Provence's slow fashion line in 2018, featuring limited edition collections that quickly sell-out each season, shipping around the globe to discerning clients. She takes great delight in photographing each of her collections in the special places and regions of Provence that provide inspiration.
